Introducing ‘The Beautiful You’: In Honor of Autism Awareness

I’m so excited to share a project that I’ve been dreaming about since my son Jack was diagnosed with PDD or the early stages of Autism spectrum disorder.  My little Jack was only 18 months at the time and developing just like his twin brother, Thay.  It was one week after a scheduled vaccine shot that he stopped talking and would no longer look at me.

Four months later on his 2nd birthday, I was looking at my boy’s side by side and knew something wasn’t right. I was mostly concerned about Jack’s lack of speech, as the few words he did know were now muffled.  Right away, I asked his pediatrician for a recommendation thinking he just needed some help in his articulation. But after speaking with 3 different speech therapists, we were referred to a home evaluation agency. This is when life changed forever.

As a parent, being told your child has a diagnosis of something you know nothing about is terrifying. So many emotions set in from sadness to fear, anger, and grief.  But, I knew I had to keep going and for the next 8 years, I became a mommy on a mission to understand my son’s diagnosis. I feel very blessed to have worked with so many incredible doctors, healers and organizations that have helped us on this journey.  But more importantly, what a blessing it was to learn and understand my son and this incredible community of families.

Having been a child advocate for most of my life and using Satya Jewelry as a means to help children in need, it’s now my turn to give back to this community which is my community. In honor of Autism Awareness month, I’ve teamed up with NEXT for AUTISM which is an amazing nonprofit dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of families and people diagnosed on the Spectrum.

We are so excited to launch ‘The Beautiful You’ collection that celebrates the unique gifts in all of us. The symbol we’ve chosen is a reminder that by embracing our differences and supporting one another, we are all one. To me, this collection represents hope, love. inclusivity and understanding for all. For each piece sold, Satya Jewelry will donate $40 to NEXT for AUTISM.

This is where you come in. In honor of Autism Awareness month, I graciously ask you to share my story with anyone you think this would touch or inspire. My hope is that through increased awareness, there will be greater understanding for this community.

With love and blessings,

Satya xo

P.s: Jack is doing more amazing then ever! Most of all he makes us laugh every day with his sense of humor and infectious smile.

The Creative Journey: 5 Steps to Reawaken Inspiration

The journey to creative inspiration can be an infinitely fulfilling one. When we are in alignment and our creativity is flowing, it seems as if all the world is opening up to us and revealing its beauty. When creative blockages emerge, however—due to stress, self-doubt or simply becoming stagnant in our own routines—inspiration can seem increasingly elusive. This month, we’re diving deep into the creative journey and sharing our steps to reawaken inspiration—just in time to greet spring, the season of renewal!

Five Steps to Reawaken Inspiration

1. Go Deep Within

Quiet time is essential for reawakening creative inspiration. We can’t possibly tap into a creative flow when we’re being pulled in numerous directions—simultaneously, no less! Setting aside quiet time daily to meditate (with or without  your favorite gemstone mala) and to journal afterwards will help re-focus your intention and open your pathways to creative energy.

2. Reach Outside of Yourself

Just as we don’t exist in a vacuum, neither do our creative muses. Inspiration can come from anywhere, but the chances of it sparking when you’re in front of your computer or staring at your phone are slim. We love taking a page from The Artist’s Way and making an artist’s date with ourselves every week. Whether you treat yourself to a stroll around your favorite neighborhood or park, see a museum exhibit or movie, getting out of your head and into real life where others are creating can be exactly what you need to get un-stuck. If you have time, scheduling a creative getaway can serve as a powerful push to getting back on the creative track! Not sure where to start? Check out our Satya Journeys creative retreat in Mexico, where for a week, your creativity will be fostered, encouraged and honored. (Did we mention it’s on the beach?!)

3. Break Through the Barrier

Creating for creating’s sake can serve as a powerful tool to re-awaken inspiration. Without the pressure of deadlines or finishing a certain project that’s just not coming together, you can fall back in love with the creative process. Try an outlet that’s not usually on the menu: If you’re a writer, try painting or drawing. If you’re a designer, try writing something. Mixing it up can help take the pressure off, and infuse fun into your creative flow, once again! Need a little totem to help you along your way? Ganesha is the remover of obstacles and bestower of success. Reach for him to help clear your path and unblock your energy so you can break through your creative barriers.

4. Give Thanks for Your Gifts

Gratitude goes a long way in helping re-awaken inspiration. When if feels like your creative gifts have abandoned you, take a few moments to give thanks for experiencing and harnessing them in the first place. It will help remind you—and the Universe—that you’ve been able to create before, and you will certainly be able to create once again. Putting it out there is a powerful signal that you recognize your talents, and are ready to receive inspiration, however it manifests itself.

5. Emerge from the Creative Cocoon

As the spring sunshine warms the earth to coax the flower into bloom, let your creativity emerge from the warmth of your self creative care. Your creative journey will not always be a straight line—but with patience, and mindful choices about how to reawaken inspiration, getting “un-stuck” is the sweetest destination. Add a reminder about how far you’ve come with the Serene Journey bracelet set, these gemstone bracelets are the embodiment of spring’s renewal (plus, the sweet elephants symbolize wisdom, peace and good fortune).

Lastly, don’t just save these tips for when panic sets in; enacting inspiring habits when you’re in a good creative space can help stave off that dreaded creative rut. Ready, set, let your creative journey begin!

4 Ways to Cultivate Self-Love

The month of love is here: February has arrived, bringing with it the warmth of Valentine’s Day to break up the doldrums of winter. This year, we’re celebrating the month of love with a focus on self-love—where every journey of the heart and soul begins. Self-love sets the standard by which you’re able to receive love and give it back in return; it signifies to the Universe that you are ready to be loved as you deserve. Showing yourself some love needn’t be a complicated undertaking. We’ve compiled our four favorite ways to cultivate self-love this month—one for every #SelfLoveSunday in February—and we think you may just get used to being treated so well. Happy love month, indeed!
1. Take a Yoga Class
Carving out time to breathe deeply and tap into your unique power is one of the easiest ways to cultivate self-love. Whether it’s your first time on the mat or yoga is a regular practice for you, allocating this time signifies to you—and the Universe—that you’re putting yourself and your health (physical, spiritual and emotional) first. Feel your body move and say a prayer of gratitude to it for supporting you, for moving you, for allowing you to be present here, now. You are exactly as, and where, you should be.

2. Buy Yourself Flowers
Whether you hit the farmer’s market in your neighborhood, patronize the local florist or reach for that bodega bouquet, fresh flowers are Mother Nature’s pick-me-up. The abundant beauty of the Universe exists in a single stem! Treating yourself to flowers feels like an indulgence—and it’s certain to feel like an act of self-love. Display them wherever they’re sure to spark the most joy, and don’t be afraid to get creative: Flowers in the bathroom can make your everyday routine feel like a day at the spa.

3. Take a Bath (Or an Indulgent Shower!)
Self-love looks different to everyone, but soaking in a warm bath tops our list. Feeling the tension of the day slip away, burning candles or reading quietly while submerged in water is, for us, a recipe for soothing comfort. Adding epsom salts to relieve sore muscles or nourishing oils to hydrate winter skin ups the self-love ante. No bathtub? No problem! We love sprinkling a few drops of our favorite essential oils around the drain to inhale as the warm water and steam release their healing properties. Add an exfoliating body scrub to slough off dry skin and reveal a glowing, radiant you.

4. Take Yourself to Dinner Or Brunch
If you read that and panicked, you’re not alone. Dining out solo can seem daunting, but once you get the hang of it, you may want to make it a habit! We love sitting at the bar and ordering; intermittent chatter with the bartender or fellow patrons can spark your adventurous spirit, while the mere act of ordering for yourself—and thereby nourishing your body—is a beautiful act of self-love. Feel free to bring along a book or a journal if you’re not comfortable engaging in small talk with strangers, or want to nurture your creativity. Want to challenge yourself to a more advanced version of this self-love step? You get bonus points if you resist the distraction of your phone and try to be fully present during this meal you’ve chosen for yourself. Bon appetite!

December 2018 Monthly Horoscope

Bring on the abundance! Not only is it Sagittarius season until December 21, but this year, the Sun is joined by jovial and expansive Jupiter, which is hanging out in its home sign from November 2018 through December 2019. For the next year, we’ll all be #blessed by bountiful Jupiter’s double vibration, which is encouraging us to take a leap of faith and follow our inspirations—no matter how “unrealistic” they might seem. Make Nelson Mandela’s famous quote that “It’s only impossible until it’s done” your mantra of the month!

Jupiter rolled into Sagittarius on November 8, but it got off to a slow start thanks to communication planet Mercury turning retrograde from November 16 to December 6. But once Mercury turns direct (forward), the skies really brighten, starting with a December 7 new moon in Sagittarius. If there was ever a day to set your sights on a grand vision, this is it. Jot a draft of your 2019 intentions, and feel free to go big with them.

11.28.18_AstroTwins_Launch_Homepage

Also on December 7, ambitious Mars and compassionate Neptune make a rare (once-every-two-years) meetup, aligning in magical Pisces. Pause for a meditation or creative visualization. With your right brain and subconscious both super-activated, the Law of Attraction is working overtime in your favor. This is definitely an “ask, believe, receive” kind of day—so hang out in the quantum field for a few and see what you can manifest!

On December 21, the winter solstice arrives and kicks off Capricorn season. Magical thinking gives way to pragmatic planning, as earthy Cap turns our thoughts to goals for the year ahead. The next day, December 22, brings a heart-opening Cancer full moon, which puts us in touch with our deepest feelings and brings out the seasonal sentimentality. This lunation is extra-special because it’s 2018’s rare SECOND Cancer full moon. The first one, a supermoon, arrived on January 1, 2018, bookending this intense year with so many emotions. Look back to what you were doing the last time the calendar turned. You could feel some resolution reverb—or just give yourself a big congratulatory high-five for all that you’ve accomplished in the past 12 months.

Social_All_Necklaces_1080x1080.jpg

Christmas this year will feature the moon in playful and passionate Leo, which will make for warm and convivial vibes…but also the possibility of drama and diva antics, especially under the mistletoe. Keep it down to a dull roar in the Lion’s den…but feel free to “don ye now” your blingiest apparel and match it with your colorful personality.

On New Year’s Eve, the moon is in scintillating Scorpio, adding a note of intensity to our celebrations. Spiritual Scorpio is the sign of transformation, and to symbolize the shedding of outworn layers as the calendar turns, you might include a ritual in your celebrations. At 10:10pm EST, the moon will form a flowing trine to manifestation-magnet Neptune, the perfect moment to inform the universe of your most soul-stirring wishes! And at 9:20pm EST, ambitious Mars will blaze into its native sign of Aries, where it will activate our most adventurous and amorous desires until Valentine’s Day 2019.

As the calendar turns (depending on your time zone), Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune AND Mars will all be in the zodiac signs that they “rule,” a rare and powerful lineup. Here’s hoping that portends a smooth entry into a very-much-welcomed new year!
