In Egyptian history, the Magi believed that if the sun and moon were engraved on an Amethyst, it made for a powerful charm that gave its wearers success and good luck. The stone was also used as a talisman for soldiers in hopes of keeping them calm and safe in times of danger.

But, it wouldn’t be the month of love if we didn’t touch upon Saint Valentine who was said to have always worn the stone.  In the middle ages, if a bride presented an amethyst set in silver in the shape of a heart to her groom, it was said to bestow the most blissful state of happiness found on earth and good fortune for the couple.

Today, the Amethyst instills peace of mind and inspires an enhanced meditative state. Many people use the amethyst in meditation to encourage peace of mind and relieve stress and anxiety.  The stone is also used to help sleeping issues and by placing the stone under your pillow, the stone is said to have positive effects on lucid dreaming.  As a result, people use the stone to relieve sleeplessness and bad dreams.
