Guest Post: The Art of Unlocking Your Intuition

The Art of Unlocking your Intuition

By Diana Scime-Sayegh

“Go inside and listen to your inner voice.
Every question has an answer.
Your soul is full of wisdom and knows the way.”-Yogi Bhajan

My last article taught us how to unlock our potential and ignite the strong fire of will, purpose, potential and manifestation that lives in the belly and Solar Plexus.

Continuing to build upon, harness and maintain that fire energy, let’s now dive into one of our greatest assets, our intuition. When we learn to listen to our inner wisdom and deep truth, we are able to take the steps that will  allow us to manifest our greatest desires.

When we wish for abundance and decide to manifest the life we want, we have to be attuned to our intuition so that we can act with clarity, trust, and the knowingness to ultimately walk down the path of true joy, stillness, and liberation.

To tap into our intuition, we find our meditation.

Below you’ll find my Open your Third Eye, Unlock your Intuition meditation to help you to engage and communicate with your greatest ally, your inner voice, your true and constant wisdom: your intuition.

Every answer you could ever seek, all the guidance you could ever need to create exactly the life you want, one full of abundance in money, love, friendship and joy lives inside of you. Through asana and meditation we clear old habits of the mind that distort our truth, hear and heed our third eye, practice non-judgement, and listen so that we may live our most exuberant life.

Open your Third Eye, Unlock your Intuition meditation

**If you’ve never meditated before, please don’t worry! There is no right or wrong way to meditate, there is only practice.  By showing up for yourself, by welcoming in the quiet and the voice of truth, you are proceeding perfectly. You can begin with just 3 minutes and reap great benefits; the amount of time you sit in your meditation will increase organically with time and practice.

To begin:

Settle into your meditation seat; this can be on a yoga block or blanket, right on the ground, or in a chair.  The most important thing is that your spine is straight, your shoulders are rolled back and down away from you ears, and your chin in away from your chest; if you choose to sit in a chair then sit on the edge, with your feet firmly planted on the ground.

Once you’ve found a comfortable seated position, simply begin to breathe.  Deep belly breaths to expand the stomach on the inhale and powerful, even exhales that bring the belly button all the way back toward the spine and empty the stomach completely of air.

Feel your seat strong and sturdy beneath you, invite your breath to welcome you into presence, and bring your palms face down on your knees.

If the mind wanders (as it will), gently bring it back to your breath. You can simply think to yourself, “now I inhale, now I exhale”, or if you want to take it a step further, invite in the phrase “sat (sah-t) nam” which means “I am truth”; if you choose this mantra repeat “sat” on the inhale, and “nam” on the exhale.

Once you’ve found grounding and presence, I ask you to bring your hands in prayer to your third eye/ the space in between your eyebrows (your thumbs will come to rest here).  Allow your focus to come to this place, and send your breath and “Sat Nam” mantra here.  See the third eye opening, looking around, exploring –see what it looks like, allow it to be whatever you want, whatever calls to you (mine looks like Liz Taylor’s eyes in Cleopatra!).  As you bring your focus to this place, see your inhales fill your third eye space with brilliant, incandescent indigo light. Fill yourself with this color, allow it to be your focus. Send all breath to this space.

Now simply listen.

Sit here for however long feels good and know that you control your mind, not the other way around! This too is a practice of intuition and trusting the self; knowing when it’s time to stay in the stillness, and knowing when its time to get up.

Everything is practice.

Remember, when we first open ourselves up to our intuition the voice may be very quiet, but nonetheless excited and ready to speak with us!  It is important not to panic or worry that you are doing something incorrectly or the work will not take hold.  Your subconscious will take care of everything, do now worry how. All you have to do is show up, allow yourself to explore the idea of stillness, and be patient and open to the idea that this is practice. Our intuition is based in the idea of trust- trusting ourselves and something much greater than ourselves.  In just welcoming in whatever comes up, whatever experience we have, we are honing our intuition.

Listen carefully, with love and receptivity, and your wisdom will begin to speak to you at great length and in greater and greater volume.  Again, this takes practice, so proceed with the intention of non-judgement, presence, detachment, and growth. Allow your third eye and your deep wisdom to unlock; you hold the key, this meditation will help you to turn it.

Do this daily, or as often as possible and as the calls begin to come in, be sure to heed them! Even if they seem scary or crazy, know that you can trust yourself, you can trust this voice, and you will be led down the path of your dharma.

Your knowledge is limitless and you always have the answer inside of you!  Seek it, unlock it, and fearlessly burst forth into manifestation, abundance, and peace.

Guest Post: The Art of Unlocking Your Potential Part II

*This post is the second in a series of guest posts from the inspiring ladies at Sophrosune Wellness. Each month this summer, they will be sharing their take on how to incorporate the inspirations behind our collection into our daily life through yoga, meditation, and healthy habits.*

Going after what we truly desire, what we believe and know in our heart of hearts to be living up to our full potential, can be one of the greatest, most exhilarating and rewarding decisions of our lives.

It also can be a slow, cripplingly scary process, fraught with anxiety and indecision, especially if it involves a huge change. In other words, you can breath a sigh of relief – its not just you!

Our brains like to keep us safe and comfortable in familiar, albeit sometimes unsatisfying territory. It takes clarity, desire, courage, and practice to keep us moving forward, so we never become stuck in our lives.

Clarity so we know where we are going or what we want; desire, because nothing is a more powerful fuel in our spiritual and mental engine – we have to deeply want what we are going after. Courage, because great change takes guts, and practice, because the path to fulfilling our potential is rarely a straight one.

Unlocking our potential is truly an art, one that is created over time and through a perfect mix of deliberation and intuition. It is also a commitment to choice.

Choosing to dive through the fear and confusion, rather than staying safe, and choosing to always aim for growth, freedom, and wild possibilities in our lives.

Whether the Next Great Step in your life is your relationship, business, relocating, or just a little fluttery feeling of intuition or desire inside of you, these next four power tips will help you to get clear, focused, grounded, and energized!

1. Do a “brain dump”

An incredible, powerful exercise to banish feelings of overwhelm and confusion. Its also an amazing time management tool. Sit down with a piece of paper and a pen or pencil (it doesn’t work on screens or devices!), and write free hand without stopping for 10 minutes about everything that is in your mind. Fears, concerns, desires, excuses, tasks, let everything spill onto the paper. After you have finished writing everything that is taking up space in your mind, review what you have written, and make a neat list of everything you URGENTLY HAVE TO DO (anything that’s time sensitive), NEED to do (important but can wait), and WANT to do, in that order. Then go through your list accordingly.

2. Take bold action

Taking any bold action is a message to the Universe that you are serious about what you want. What can you do right now to send that message?

3. Get desirous

Everything we aim and strive for has one common denominator: desire. What (or who!) do you want? How do you want to feel in your life? (For more on this, I highly recommend “The Desire Map” by Danielle LaPorte. It’ll change your life.)

4. Get flexible

Flexibility is the most important tool in your arsenal. Stuff changes, and so do we. What you wanted when you were six surely isn’t what you want now. Allow yourself the freedom and room to grow, and life will respond in kind!

Delightfully Unexpected – Creative Stretch Bracelet Stacks

Turquoise is a staple of the Satya Jewelry collection, both for its rich symbolism as the stone of health, intuition and self-expression, and also for its versatility as a goes-with-everything color. This summer is no exception, with turquoise accenting the silver styles in our Serpent Collection. Below, we highlight different ways to layer our favorite stone to create color combinations that are anything but predictable. Inspired by travel photos, art, and interior design, we hope that the pairings incite a creative spark within you to think outside of the box as you plan your next arm party!

A watercolor-inspired look featuring turquoise and purple hues. Get the look with amethyst, onyx, turquoise and cherry quartz.

This photo of Baha’i Gardens in Israel inspired us with its lush green hues and earthy yellows. Get the look with turquoise, smokey topaz, and yellow and olive jade.

Colorful tile work with shades of blue and sunny yellow. We suggest combining turquoise, and jade in hues of yellow, blue and white.

Our very own New York City skyline glows in rich shades of midnight blue and yellow. How about combining yellow jade, blue quartzite, onyx and turquoise for this nighttime-inspired look?

This hand-painted piece of furniture provided the most unexpected color combination of the bunch. We would never have thought of pairing all of these colors, but somehow, it worked, resulting in a colorful (and cheerful) look. You can layer just about any color, but here we included carnelian, blue quartzite, cherry quartz and turquoise.

Which of these combinations is your favorite? Have you discovered any unlikely pairings?

Tata Harper on Unlocking Your Potential and Following Your Dream

tata_pbFor the last few weeks, we have been focusing on the idea of Unlocking Your Potential, which is why we were so excited to join forces with all-natural skincare maven Tata Harper for an amazing giveaway (you can enter here). We were so inspired by her vision and dedication to creating a business from the ground up. We spoke to her about how she was able to tap into her full potential and make her dreams a reality.

Satya Jewelry: What did you do before you started your skincare line? How did you prepare yourself for this career change?

Tata Harper: Before I started my skincare line, I was living and working between Miami and New York,  working in real estate with my husband. The career change was definitely a transition, but a wonderful one! Once I had the inspiration to create a line of 100% natural, totally nontoxic and results-driven antiaging skincare products, I totally switched focuses and worked on this new project full time. It involved a lot of traveling around the world to meet with top biologists, dermatologists, and holistic health experts, who all contributed to the creation of my totally unique line.

SJ: When did you feel like you found your true calling as a natural skincare expert? Was this a scary feeling?

TH: I’ve always loved beauty and skincare; when I was growing up in Latin America, taking care of my skin, body and health overall was a priority, so it felt natural to start to focus in on the health and biology of the skin when formulating the line. I’ve always been curious about the skin as well as a lover of science and experimentation, so it was a lot of fun to study product formulation during the product creation process. During those years I studied aromatherapy, biology, homeopathy, natural ingredients and the skin that I became an expert on all of those subjects, and they all help me to continue to improve and expand our line.

SJ: It must have been challenging to overcome some of the negative connotations of “all natural” beauty products while founding your business. How did you make sure that you stayed true to your vision?

TH: Our vision is essentially to tackle the perception that natural can’t mean effective, with results-driven, super advanced natural skincare technology and high quality ingredients that deliver real results. It’s been a process of learning how to set ourselves apart by explaining that we are 100% natural and nontoxic, which is so much different than just being a “natural” brand. There’s a lot of confusion in the marketplace about what “natural” means, since it’s not a word that’s regulated in the industry (like “organic”), so really anyone can use it in marketing, including companies whose products contain combinations of synthetic and natural ingredients. We’re wholly committed to purity and results, and our products speak for themselves, in terms of quality and results. Staying committed to this philosophy has helped us stand out in the market, and fans of our line really believe in what we believe in, too.

SJ: Why is it so important to use all natural products?

TH: First of all,  it’s a wonderful thing to do for your skin and body, because purely natural skincare products that are made with high quality ingredients give the skin a nourished, healthy glow that you just can’t get with synthetic products. It looks and feels so wonderful. When it comes to health, the idea with switching to natural products is that it is important to consider what you use on your body every day, twice a day, throughout your whole life. Our skin can absorb many things that it comes in contact with, especially when those products are formulated specifically to penetrate the skin, so that they can deliver the results that we buy them for. There’s a chance then for ingredients to enter our bloodstream, especially when used repeatedly over time.  A lot of ingredients in everyday skincare and cosmetic products haven’t been tested for safety, so we don’t know if they’ll lead to health problems years down the road, and I believe that everyone deserves totally safe, trustworthy, natural products that deliver amazing results.

SJ: How long does it take to develop a new product? Do you ever feel impatient? If so, what keeps you going?

TH: It can take many years! The three new antiaging serums that we are about to release (June through August) took two years to perfect. It’s a long process of identifying a skin issue that we want to solve, and searching the globe for the highest quality ingredients that are proven to deliver results. I don’t really feel impatient because I know that rushing through formulation is never a good idea. We have to consider every detail, from the way the product smells, to the environmental-friendliness of every ingredient we source. We have very high standards for all of these things, so often it can take a while to get it just right.

SJ: Your company works hard to decrease their footprint on the environment. How can we all strive to do this in our own lives, making sure we leave the earth beautiful for generations to come?

TH: First of all, it’s important to remember that increasing the environmental friendliness of your lifestyle does not have to be a sacrifice of convenience or quality! There are amazing natural substitutes to just about every household product, it seems, and lots of resources ( like the Environmental Working Group’s Good Guide) to help you determine what’s healthiest for yourself, your family and the planet. It’s sort of fun to tackle your household and detoxify it product by product, or to learn to make your own substitutes at home. It’s fun to get advice from friends and neighbors. To me, I know that if I tried to make every single element of my life greener, I’d go crazy, so I do what I can, and that feels good. As a business-owner, I know that the impacts of my skincare line are much larger than just mine as an individual, so in that case, the decisions carry more weight, and we do everything we can to keep our impact on the environment super low. Responsible businesses are becoming the norm more and more, which I think is a fantastic thing!

SJ: What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given? What is the best piece of advice you could give someone who has an idea, but is afraid to make it a reality?

TH: I’ve always really taken to heart any advice that’s about perseverance, determination and persistence. I believe it’s so important to finish what you start, and to put all of your energy into making a dream that you’re passionate about a reality. I think that’s the best advice I could give someone – to just really go for it! Committed, determined people can make a difference in the world and that’s what it’s all about.
