Satya’s Tree of Life Earth Spring Collection

cover Alright everyone, the time has come…we are so incredibly excited to launch our brand new Spring 2014 Tree of Life Earth Collection!

Inspired by the elements and the remarkable effect they have on us, this season’s collection expresses nature’s inner beauty and ever-evolving character.  Nature is wild, breathtaking, subtle and resilient, and we call into play every aspect of these expressions to form the perfect design and piece.

You will notice that the Spring Collection is highlighting one emblem in particular: the tree.  The graceful branches yield to the wind and reach infinitely, but they are always deeply rooted.  Incorporating verdant green, earthy tones and delicate styles, this collection embodies the freshness of the world’s trees, the earth, and the vast wisdom and nurture that she provides us.

collage3Focus on the sense of center, grounding, balance and strength when you wear our new collection.  Celebrate new life, respect your instincts, and appreciate the natural beauty surrounding our lives.

Satya At Sundance

sundance-film-festival1Last week Satya Jewelry had an amazing time being a part of one of the biggest film festivals in America – The Sundance Film Festival!

For those of you who don’t know about the festival, it is held in beautiful Park City, Utah, overlooking snow covered mountains filled with Evergreens and crisp, clean air.  Certainly a far cry from New York City.  The festival itself spans over a period of 10 days, featuring dozens of feature films, short films, and documentaries, all independently created.

This year at Sundance was a considerable year indeed; it marked the 30th anniversary since its founding by Robert Redford.  Yes, we’re talking about that Robert Redford – the face of Mr. Jay Gatsby opposite Mia Farrow in the ’74 version of The Great Gatsby.  With the milestone anniversary came the screening of some of the best films from the past decade, including An Education, Reservoir Dogs, Little Miss Sunshine, and Napoleon Dynamite; all Sundance films! Not to mention our personal favorite, (500) Days of Summer.

Satya Jewelry had the wonderful fortune of being a sponsor during the festival, which meant spending a lot of time in the “It’s So Miami” lounge with MTV News and dozens of celebrities.  We had such a great time talking about the positivity our jewelry brings with stars like Andie MacDowell, Molly Shannon, Christina Hendrix, Ireland Baldwin, and the absolutely adorable supermodel Chanel Iman!

Check out some of our pics below.

The Art of Being Compassionate

theartThe Dalai Lama once said, “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.  If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”  We have always believed these prolific words to be true, but sometimes they are easier said than done.  The stress of daily life can get in the way of being exceptionally thoughtful, and at times it is easier to focus on doing only what needs to be done.

Doing only what’s necessary can get you through the day-to-day side of things, but the pure happiness that comes along with being kind to others (and yourself) may never be experienced that way.

Despite how busy you may be, take some time out of your schedule to practice these amazing habits and become a happier you!

eveningtea1. Morning Ritual

Every morning that you wake up, remind yourself that you are fortunate to have woken up.  You’re alive, your life is precious, and it will not go to waste!  Remind yourself to have kind thoughts towards others, and you will benefit others as much as you can.

2. Thoughtfulness

Being truly thoughtful takes attentiveness.  Pay attention to your surroundings and the people in your life.  Listen to what they say and pick up on their emotions, and take some time to think about what you can do for them.

3. Practice Kindness

Beyond thoughtfulness, practice acts of kindness.  They do not need to be grand gestures; they can be small deeds without any cost.  Be it a simple note, a bouquet of flowers, or a few kind words, you have the ability to make someone’s day.

groupyoga4. Reflect On Those Who Mistreat Us

Granting forgiveness and compassion towards those who mistreat us is one of the hardest things to do.  It does not come immediately and most often it takes much practice.  Spend time to reflect on the people who may have caused you pain, and instead of reacting in anger, imagine the suffering they may be going through.  Imagine that you had mistreated someone and instead of responding in kind acted with great kindness and compassion.  Reflect on whether or not that would make you more likely to mistreat that person the next time.

5. Evening Routine

Before you go to sleep, spend a few minutes reflecting on your day.  Think about what you did and who you met, and spend some time considering what you could do differently the next day.  Learn from your experiences and be thankful for the happiness around you.

Bringing more happiness into your life may take time, but it is worth it!  Make small, daily changes and witness the incredible effect it will have on you!

Eat Right, Feel Right

coverTaking care of your mind and body are two of the most important things you can do, and sometimes it all begins with what you put in your mouth.  Exercise, meditation and yoga will strengthen your physique and stabilize your mind, but without the right nutrition, your body will never receive the full benefits!

We all know that certain foods aren’t the healthiest, and however tempting it is, McDonalds should not be eaten every day… but do you know which foods power your brain?  Take a look at our list of favorite brain foods and get started on your new year and new you!

1. Fish

Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fish is one of the best brain foods you can find.  The high amount of protein strengthens your immune system and helps repair damaged cells, as well as build muscle.  A diet with two servings of fish a week is linked to lower levels of dementia and a lower risk of stroke.

pic22. Avocados and Whole Grains

Just like fish, avocados come with a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids that work to keep concentration and focusing abilities at the maximum.  Both whole grains and avocados (or fruits like avocados) cut the risk of heart disease and lower bad cholesterol.

Make yourself a healthy snack of avocado and whole grain pita after an intense yoga session – it’s the perfect light snack!

pic33. Blueberries

Besides being delicious, blueberries have the power to reduce the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other age-related conditions.

Make yourself a blueberry, banana, almond milk smoothie before jetting out to your next yoga class, and you’ll be satisfied until the final Namaste!

Overcome Your Challenges

coverAs new opportunities begin to fill the new year, new challenges may arise as we set out to conquer our latest goals.  While some of them may be trivial, others have the ability to knock us off our feet and send us spinning.

Staying grounded isn’t always an easy feat; it can take time, effort, and substantial motivation, but it’s worth it. Utilize these practices and watch yourself overcome every challenge thrown at you, and become a better you!

1. Yoga

Here at Satya jewelry we cannot begin to tell you how yoga transforms your world. The positivity surrounding yoga translates into every facet of your life and adds an abundance of tranquility.  Dedicate thirty minutes of your day to yoga and mediation, and watch as your moods stabilize and your ability to think clearly increases.

2. Positive Outlook

No matter how difficult things may become, maintaining a positive outlook is key.  In order to overcome something you must believe that you have the ability to overcome it!  Give yourself a healthy frame of mind and think the best in situations.

3. Simplify the Problem

Looking at problems as a whole can be extremely stressful and cause unnecessary anxiety, so when faced with a challenge, take it apart.  Focus on one thing you can do to alleviate the problem and start with that.  Take the issue step by step, and before long it will have disappeared.
